The Baku #1 Wine-making plant with order of "Znak Pocheta" is one
of the largest second wine plants not only on the territory of the former
USSR, but in Europe. The plant was founded in 1928, on the base of
former cooperative "Concordia" with producing and botling wine, cognac
and vodka.
In 1947 the plant was given a territory for the building of a new modern
plant answering the worldwide standarts on the territory about 7 hectares
wich was finally build in 1954.
The capacity of the plant was:
wine - 7,8 mln. liters per year
cognac - 0,8 mln. liters per year
vodka - 0,45 mln. liters per year
total 9,05 mln. liters per year
In 1972 there had bin build a new department produsing 1.850.000
bottles of shampagne per year. In 1974 after the reconstruction the
power of the plant had increased and in 1984 before the well-known
decree of M.Gorbachew in 1985, to 44,6 mln. liters cognac and 20,0 mln.
liters of vodka, in total more than 72,0 mln. liters, wich is eight times
higher than the projected power.
The production of the plant won more than 100 gold, silver and bronze
medals in international tastings and fair.
In 1981, the plant was decorated with the Order "Znak Pocheta".
In 1993, the plant was awarted the international prize
"The Golden Globo".
